Our Story

The Toomer Family Foundation is a private family foundation focused on making grants to support education, arts and other causes.  Toomer Family Foundation founded 2000. We focus on supporting institutions that educate at-risk or marginalized individuals and groups, as well as organizations that address gaps in traditional education programs. Our partners include an established alternative school, a national youth mentoring program, and an environmental education organization. Our partners typically serve populations most vulnerable to the effects of mental illness. These include a family mental health center, a grief counseling program, and a shelter and housing organization. Our support recognizes the educational and restorative power of the creative arts. Our partners work to empower the personal development of both children and adults, and run programs that strengthen their communities around the arts.
